picture story.

i found these photos in my camera from last year.

can you believe how flawless her tangled and wild curls are?
she's got all the luck in the world, that one.
makes me want to do a fine art series of photographs just focusing on one feature at a time.

sigh. lets go do a photoshoot, friends.

light...

...is such an interesting negotiation to capture through a lens.

I was looking through some dear friends photography blogs
and loving the studio spaces they've created right in their homes.

We live in an apartment that is less than 500 square feet.

It's exactly what we need right now,
and I can't even begin to tell you how much we love it.

But there's not a lot of room for photography, and not nearly enough natural light.

However, I think may have discovered a spot (about 2 square feet... seriously it's small!)
that receives enough light to count as a mini studio.

Sometimes I think I feel like I'm in the dark,
when I'm actually sitting in a small patch of perfect light.

There's only space for shots that are cropped quite close, and the light doesn't travel to the wall behind, which makes the background a soft gloomy sort of gray. My favorite.

It was just an experiment, and there was quite a lot of trial and error.

And I have to say, most of the images didn't turn out too well.

blurry blurry blurry
misguided crop

(there's several more images that turned out less than amazing that I'm too embarrassed to show on this blog...)
My point is, I think we have more light in our space than I originally thought.

Which is why having a lovely model would be nice.
Someone to practice on.

Anyone interested in being a model for the tiny experimental studio?

Leave a comment below, or leave me a message, will you?
Oh, and enjoy your weekend, friends.

in love with love.

You know what I just adore?

Seeing beautiful people in love with each other.

Especially when its a particularly important day.

Rachel and Bobby, congratulations on your lovely marriage.

Congratulations also on getting married on maybe the windiest day ever.

I'm particularly impressed with your hair staying gorgeous throughout the wind, rachel.

Most of all-

Congratulations on the beautiful life you two will share.

We love you both,
(and gid)
