that time some flowers made me laugh and cry...

I came home the other night from my little boutique job, my feet sore, and my tummy empty. It hadn't been a bad day, just a tired day. After I put my bag down I saw a gorgeous, big bouquet of flowers on the table with an envelope.

I have a sweet husband. He buys flowers every now and then to celebrate our anniversary, or to tell me that he loves me. I don't know how I got so lucky. But this bouquet seemed bigger than usual; the kind that you don't want to put in a vase because it looks so good wrapped up. And nothing too huge has been going on in our lives in the last few days. In fact, I've been down about it- feeling like I used to accomplish things without it being a big deal, and now taking a shower and making the bed are about as ambitious as I want to be.

When I opened the envelope it said, "One year ago today, you graduated from Integrated Movement Studies! You did it!!!"

I broke down laughing and crying. Last year, I spent three weeks in Berkeley finishing a somatic certification intensive. It was hard. It was a little horrible. Any other year it might've been exciting and fun, but I was in the middle of a huge pile of work for my MFA, and the last thing I needed was an extra thesis to write and defend. 10 hour days in the classroom/studio. Talking to Gid on FaceTime every night and asking if he would still respect me if I just got in my car and came home. Now it seems so melodramatic. So silly and whiney. But I remember how intensely I wished it to be over. I had an app on my phone counting down the seconds.

And now it is. In fact, it's been over for a while. And as tired as my days can get now, they don't hold a candle to the stress that came with those three weeks. No more research paper writing. No more presentation preparing. My life is so beautiful. It's not as busy, but that's precisely what I wished for when I was elbow deep in work. It might seem boring by comparison, but it's actually quite lovely.

And I have flowers everywhere.

Thanks gidden. I lovelovelova you.
I think I'll go take a shower and make the bed now….

resolutions are hard.

20 days ago, I was like,
"Bring on the new year. Bring. It. On."

"I'm going to catch up reading all of those classics I've made it 3/4 of the way through!"

"I'll finish editing all of those projects I've been working on!"

"I'll do awesome at exercising!"

"I'll totally do laundry!"

"AND dishes!"

I was going to kill 2015 with my bare hands.
2015 was going to be MY year.

2014? It had some lovely moments, but I was ready to move on to 2015.

And then January 1st came by.

I thought, "Okay, lets finish up Les Miserables!
You've only got 100 pages left!!!"

"Lets get editing those projects!!"

"...okay, okay- let's exercise then! I won't even be too ambitious!
Let's just go on a walk every day!"

"...laundry?? ...dishes??"

The moral of the story is that resolutions are hard.
And I've been sleeping alot.

Writing this post was exhausting, and took me more time than I care to admit.

That's all.

"I love her. And that's the beginning and end of everything." -F. Scott Fitzgerald

We had our costumes out already thanks to the 20's party we threw a few weeks ago
so we decided to use them for halloween, friends.

We attempted Zelda, and F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Last year we ran out of candy, and I felt so bad for the final few trick-or-treaters
who I offered apples to apologetically.

(I imagine they think, "Thanks for nothing, mean apple lady," when they see me around the village.)

So this year I spent about $40 on candy to be sure we wouldn't run out.

About 5 kids came by. I've got candy coming out of my ears.
(And since we opened the bags I can't return any of it.)

:(

ps- I must be honest: Gideon with a mustache makes me uneasy.

So if anyone is looking for candy, don't hesitate to come by. Really.

Wishing you all lovely halloween memories.

SOLLY-CATION GIVEAWAY!

Friends! I'm sure many of you have seen my post about this on Facebook,
but I thought I'd write about it for my exclusive bloggie buddies as well.

The Solly Baby Wrap is one of the most popular baby carriers we sell at Babinskis.

It's super comfy, chic and organic.

They come in darling colors, and basically I really love them.

Anyway, the company is doing a giveaway (read: FREE)

You can win $2500 in airfare, $1500 in lodging, and FIVE Solly Baby Wraps of your choice. Friends, I haven't been asked to blog about this; I'm not being compensated in anyway for it. I'm blogging about it because who doesn't want to travel, and get some adorable Solly Wraps in a giveaway?!

I figure I'll enter, and tell everyone I love to enter, and hopefully one of us will win.

Anyway, enter at this link, and best of luck darlings! I sure hope someone I know wins a lovely little babymoon/lovetrip.

Aren't they just darling?
Lets hope one of us is a winner!

Just a few (instagram) photos of our trip this summer, friends.
I'm sorry for the delay for those of you who have been asking for these for months.
I promise, there are more to come.

This one we took moments before we boarded our flight from NYC to Dublin.
(We'd been traveling since 7am that morning, been through three flights, and because one of them had been majorly delayed, we thought for sure there was no way we'd catch this flight. We were so happy when we found the plane with a three leaf clover hadn't left without us. Lucky.)

This one we took during our day in Dublin.
Goodness, we were tired.

The view from our window in charming Luton, England (about an hour outside of London).
We stayed here overnight with the sweetest people I've ever met in my life.

From Luton, we took a bus into central London,
and from there we spent a few hours getting lost in the city.

London was Gideon's favorite.
He couldn't get enough of the history.

The plane ride from England into France.

…and the view (day and night) from our stay in Paris.

The tower was visible from our bedroom, the kitchen and the shower.
The SHOWER!

The screen at the airport in France that told us our
flight to Rome was delayed yet another hour due to the pouring rain.

We didn't land until 1am, but when we finally got to our apartment, it was all worth it.
Especially the view that morning.

This is my sweet Gideon with gelato in front of the iconic Trevi fountain.
While we were in Italy, we ate Gelato each meal. I'm not exaggerating.
Gideon was sick of it after the second day. Weirdo.

After Rome, we got on an overnight train car (that we shared with two turkish students, and one drunk italian who was super excited to tell us all about elton john after he found out we were american. Gideon was sweet to keep the conversation going with him long after I fell asleep).

Next time, we'll splurge and get our own train car.
But the view was pretty incredible when we did wake up.

Venice was lovely, although I have to say we were exhausted and quite ready to come home.
This one we took by the bridge of sighs.

This, the view from our Venice apartment.

You guessed it. More gelato.

The view from our plane back to America.

The other night I sighed to Gideon and said, "Remember the time we went to Europe?"
Being silly, he said something along the lines of,
"Europe? No, I don't remember that. When did we do that?"

I guess that means we need to go again, don't you think friends?

That's all for today, friends!
Hope you enjoyed.
